Propuls vs HubSpot

HubSpot targets structured sales teams, Propuls targets independents. An honest comparison of features and pricing.

In short

HubSpot is a marketing and sales platform built for sales teams: very powerful, but the price climbs fast as soon as you leave the free CRM. Propuls covers what a freelancer actually needs — leads, proposal, quote, signed contract and invoice — for €9.99 to €19.99/month, with no add-on modules.

  • You want a readable price that does not explode as you grow.

Looking for a HubSpot alternative as a freelancer

HubSpot is not overpriced — it is priced for a sales team. Its free CRM is genuinely generous on contact storage, but the parts a freelancer actually needs daily (quotes, sequences, custom reporting, removing HubSpot branding) sit in the paid Sales Hub tiers, billed per seat. When you are the only seat, you pay a team price for a solo workflow.

  • Deals vs documents: HubSpot optimises the pipeline; a freelance business lives on the document — the proposal, the quote, the signature, the invoice.
  • Setup cost: properties, pipelines and workflows need configuring before the CRM is useful. That is a week you are not billing.
  • Quotes and e-signature: available, but gated behind paid tiers and limited on the free plan.
  • Exit: exports exist, but the object model is HubSpot-shaped, so leaving means remapping everything.

When HubSpot still wins: you plan to hire salespeople, you run inbound marketing with landing pages and email nurturing, or you need a large integration marketplace. When it loses: you are one person who needs a quote out today and a signature back tomorrow.

Bonsai and Dubsado alternatives: the same trade-off, different shape

Freelancers comparing HubSpot usually also look at Bonsai and Dubsado. Both are built for client work rather than sales pipelines, which is the right category — the friction is elsewhere.

  • Bonsai: strong on contracts and US tax tooling, priced in dollars, and the accounting side is aimed at the US market rather than European VAT.
  • Dubsado: extremely configurable workflows and forms, at the cost of a long setup — great for studios with repeatable client onboarding, heavy for a solo consultant.
  • Propuls: AI-drafted proposals, quotes, e-signature and invoices in one flow, in English, French or Spanish, with a permanent free plan and EU hosting.

If invoicing is the main reason you are switching, the guide to freelance invoicing software covers the migration step by step, and the HoneyBook alternative page compares the all-in-one client platforms head to head.

A comparison table never tells the whole story: what actually ships, how the tool plugs into your stack, and the methods that go with it.
